Thank Goodness for Eric

Most of my blog is about my kids. Well today's tribute is all about my husband. No, it's not our anniversary, nor birthday nor any other day about dads. This is just a regular guy who loves and supports me. And finds a way to revive my spirits when I don't want to keep going. Really I can't believe some of the things he and I have done or survived together. We have weathered many storms together. And he always finds a way to make me laugh. Today, we got some news about Dylan's school and next year. I'm teary all day long about the upcoming changes. Eric gave me a bunch of ideas on how to resolve it. I'm still debating several of them. But, then Eric sends me the best text ever, "Nothing we can't handle!" And that's why I love him.

Easter Weekend

We were lucky to have my sister Katie in town for Easter weekend with her husband Scott.
After some sightseeing, we escaped to Mark and Tiff's lake house. We fished, talked, enjoyed the beautiful outdoors in the company of family. It was a great escape. Probably some of the highlights were Ella getting a turtle to bring home and Eric getting to go night fishing with a bow and arrow! When we got back home, the Easter bunny brought our baskets. There were plenty of Reese's eggs to go around. A family favorite for sure!

2nd Grade Singing Program

Dylan participated in the 2nd grade school program and did an amazing job. He was an acorn. We cheered every time he sang, moved his arms or participated. Last year he wouldn't even get on stage for the end-of-year performance. So this was a big deal for him (and us!) and he looked so cool in his sunglasses on stage. (We had to zoom in so close, pictures didn't turn out great)! Right now, I can't even remember what the program was about cause I was so happy Dylan was singing the words and getting involved.

Mom Is 65!

We had a fun at-home party for my mom, the kids put on party hats and we played a balloon popping game to make her feel young again. She is 65, but it really does seem like she has turned 65 for a few years. Maybe it is me, the daughter, losing my mind? Mom wanted a gourmet ice cream bar for her birthday, so we bought all these fancy flavors and each tried new ones. YUM!

Easter Egg Hunt

We had our first annual Easter Egg hunt with the kids on just our street and the street behind us. In the past, we have gone to one for the whole neighborhood. This was fun, smaller and more enjoyable for the kids. The eggs were well hidden and the adults had a great breakfast too. We will for sure make this an annual event!
Oh, yes, my giant calculator. Some of the dads loved making fun of it. Well, every egg hunt has to have exact amount of eggs per child. And thanks to this calculator, there were no tears!

Pinewood Derby

Dylan got to race in his first Pinewood Derby for Boy Scouts.

He and his dad built a blue (of course!) race car with white strips. He won lots of the races and kept saying "we won!"

But most of all, Dylan was thrilled by them offering lots of popcorn to eat while watching cars race!
