Fourth of July

To celebrate America's birthday (as the kids like to call it), we went to our neighborhood parade. The day looks so happy as the kids gear up for the ride...The kids decorated their bikes and scooters with red, white and blue things. They got to start at our park and ride to the pool where ice cream was served.

Dylan cruised quickly on his bike and was one of the first ones to the pool... of course ice cream was waiting!
Ella... on the other hand... had a complete meltdown when everyone else showed up with their bikes and she realized her scooter was slower. She HATES not being first (where does she get that)???? So, her dad decided to use this fun, spoz to be relaxing holiday, to teach her a lesson. He made her stick with the scooter. She wanted to ride on his shoulders. The screams were heard round the neighborhood. That image up top of dad and Ella hugging is almost comical as that's so not how the day went. He decided to teach her an important lesson of sticking things out. Oh boy! Glad I was in front eating ice cream with Dylan!
The day ended with a fun picnic and fireworks at a park nearby. This is one of my favorite holidays as I see my kids learn about freedom, politics, celebrating our blessings.
