Spring Break!

My camera broke on the first day of Spring Break. I am more lost without a camera, than I am without a cell phone. So, some of these pics are from my phone, but not very clear! As you can see, the weather was amazing... 70s and 80s every day! One of the highlights of the week for Dylan and Ella was doing a lemonade stand with their neighborhood friends:

Grandma Liz and Uncle Zach came to visit for the week. (We made them visit the lemonade stand a LOT!) We BBQ'd on the smoker grill... (even Ella couldn't resist the Salmon... YUM!) and went out to eat and laughed and took kids Go-Karting and ate and ate and played hard. We got lucky with Eric getting a few days off too!

We started off Spring Break with a trip to the indoor pool per Dylan's request. But, before we got there, we had so much fun at a cute outdoor play area with the kids' cousin Ryan. Nat and Greg were also in town for Spring Break. It was awesome to see Ryan up and running around and he couldn't be any more CUTE! Why can't I kiss those cheeks more??

The kids had so much fun that as soon as school was out today, they raced back outside to play with the friends on our street. The friends all got close this week... drawing a track for bike rides (Dylan is getting good, yay!), having a lemonade stand, playing hide-and-seek, having a treasure hunt, playing basketball and forgetting about time or eating or whether or not it's dark outside! Just like childhood should be...

A Little Gem...

I must confess, I've watched this movie enough times that the Blockbuster guy just told me I have late fees for it. WHAT? I thought they no longer had late fees. I can't keep up. I've watched this movie at least 3 times now. Laugh at me all you want, but sometimes a movie just speaks to you. No, I don't talk to dead people! Or even see dead people! (Although I know my friend Janell and I only wish... we've made plans of how to speak to each other after death. So, when I die, ask Janell what I'm up to!)

Now, back to the movie... it's about a very obnoxious selfish man, who rivals a Jack Nicholson character in meanness. And until he helps the dead, they won't leave him alone. So, why in the world do I relate to it? Well, it all comes to this quote from Einstein that changes the main character "Only a life lived for others is a life worth while."

Well, I think I'm just in this stage of life when you are pretty much only living for others. No, I'm not tooting my horn. I'm just a mom. I spend most of the day waiting outside a lesson or class. I stand in the bathroom forever while they do their best to avoid bedtime. They spit in the mirror, tell silly jokes or do anything BUT brush their teeth. I've spent more hours sitting outside speech or OT for my son than ever exercising, and it shows! So many hours of the day I feel I'm spinning my wheels, yet it's just what mothers do. They endure hours of picking up after kids, running them around town or waiting around to be a part of a few magical moments. Every so often you get a hug or a magical thank you! And best of all, while spinning your own wheels, you get to watch them race forward to exciting new things.
